Cross border adult education

Edited version of an interview with Alfred Lang, Director of the Research Society Burgenland in Eisenstadt and Wilfried Schmidt, Director of the Adult Education College of Saarbrücken, focusing on the project “Cross-Border Education / Adult Education in European Border Regions” (www.crossborder-education.net

The project consortium consists of representatives from adult education institutions located in nine European countries. On what basis do the various parties contribute to the project?

The idea was to bring together various adult education institutions in order to create a single project. The different institutions share the following fundamental characteristics:

  • They are located in a European border region
  • They conduct their activities in this region
  • They are active in the field of adult education.

This had led to the involvement of a wide range of professional and non-professional institutions with wide-ranging experience of cross-region cooperation.
